How does the process work?
I work from your favorite photograph to create an heirloom quality oil painting you will be pleased to display. A high quality color print is acceptable, but a high definition digital image is preferred. The painting process involves creating several layers of paint in order to produce the final image. The first step is to develop an underpainting that will allow you to see how the final painting will ultimately look. You will have the opportunity to review and comment on the painting at this important first step, which provides the “green light” for me to complete your custom artwork.
How long does it take to complete my painting?
Depending on the size and complexity of your painting, completion time ranges from 4-8 weeks. You can usually expect to see your initial “approval” painting within 1-2 weeks.
Do you frame the painting?
All paintings are delivered unframed, as frame choices are dictated by personal preference. At your request, I am happy to assist you in choosing a framing style and will suggest resources for reasonably priced framing options.
Who owns the rights to the painting?
The copyright of the finished image remains the property of the artist, and may be used for promotional purposes, as well as for exhibition. As such, reproductions of the original painting can be provided at a cost upon request. Prints are available on canvas and archival watercolor paper in a variety of sizes. Greeting cards and post cards are also available.
What are your fees?
Prices are determined by size and complexity of the painting and quoted prior to the start of work. A deposit of 30% is required for each project. Additional fees apply for special requests and revisions. Shipping fees are not included in prices. Unless specified otherwise, paintings will be shipped via FedEx Ground.
